Conveniently Transform Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers - PGA Dentistry

Are You Ready for a More Attractive and Confident Smile?

Many people don’t realize just how much our smiles matter. Did you know that one-in-three people you meet will notice your smile before they see anything else? Our teeth play a major role in determining how others perceive us. These social biases, in turn, can take a toll on our emotional wellbeing. If we are unhappy with our teeth, not only can we lose confidence, but changes in how others treat us can also damage our self-esteem and self-image. By concealing stains, cracks, and other flaws, porcelain veneers can provide you with a killer first impression. Treating yourself to a smile you’ll be happy with is a strong first step towards restoring your confidence. Boost your quality of life with porcelain veneers, you deserve it.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ceramic laminates that are applied over the surface of the tooth with a special bonded adhesive. Porcelain veneers are one of the best solutions to cover up cracks, chips, gaps, and discolorations, among other examples of flaws in your teeth. Since they are hand fabricated from porcelain, they can be custom shaped and stained to fit comfortably and cover up these flaws impeccably. The process entails removing a small amount of surface enamel to make room for the veneers, and is very minimally invasive. When performed properly by an expert cosmetic dentist, porcelain veneers can last several decades.

Choosing the Right Cosmetic Dentist is Critical to Final Results

Not all dentists are equal in their training, experience, attention to detail and artistic talent. Dr. Jay Ajmo has over 30 years of experience in cosmetic dentistry and facial esthetics, having treated thousands of satisfied patients with outstanding results. Custom smile designs require specific skills that are totally unique to cosmetic dentistry and separate from “general dentistry.” To give you the smile you’re looking for, it’s important we really listen to your wants and needs. Digital photographs are taken of your face, teeth and smile to properly assess your existing situation and discuss with you what we can do to achieve results you’ll truly be happy with. We use only the finest labs using only the best porcelains to create teeth that have natural shapes and translucency, so your smile will look healthy and beautiful.

COSMETIC PORCELAIN VENEERS

Ultra-thin E.Max Porcelain Veneers

We offer E.Max® veneers – incredibly durable veneers that require minimal preparation. Ultra-thin E.Max veneers are our most popular veneer option as they have the most natural look and are the strongest veneers, very resilient to everyday wear and tear. Because they are incredibly thin, these veneers allow a significant amount of light to pass through them, creating the perfect translucency and dazzling shine. These porcelain veneers are an excellent option if you have generally white teeth that are structurally sound and free of large fillings and cavities.

Our ceramic artists masterfully sculpt your smile to give you a gorgeous youthful grin you’ll be proud of for years to come. Using only the finest dental labs available, our artists are focused on the aesthetics of your smile and the pristine appearance of your teeth.

Understanding the Procedure

dental patient undergoing veneers consultationEach one of our patients meets with our experienced team and Dr. Ajmo for a consultation before they undergo treatment. A series of digital photographs are taken of your face, teeth and smile to assess your existing condition. We will spend your initial appointment discussing your dental needs and personal requests to ensure that you receive the right treatment that’s best for you. After taking digital x-rays, Dr. Ajmo will thoroughly examine your teeth and smile to create cosmetic treatment plan customized to suit your specific needs and wants. A diagnostic cosmetic wax-up will be created so Dr. Ajmo can predictably design how your teeth and new smile will look.

During your next appointment, you’ll be kept comfortable with local anesthetic and possibly a mild sedative if necessary. The surface of the tooth will be cleaned and gently shaped to prepare the teeth for your new porcelain veneers. A computerized digital scan of your teeth will be made and temporary veneers will be put in place. The temporary veneers are designed to look just like your permanent veneers, so you have a few days or a week to “try on your veneers” making certain you like what your permanent veneers will look like. Then you’ll meet with Dr. Ajmo and our team to take new photos of your smile and review the temporary results. If necessary, minor changes can be made, precisely verifying proper length, color, alignment and overall cosmetic results. Photos and measurements of your temporaries are then sent to our premium ceramic laboratory. Soon we will schedule you back for your final appointment.

Dr. Ajmo will then review your case directly with our premium quality ceramics lab. A talented ceramist will handcraft the porcelain veneers from durable life-like ceramics that look and function like natural dentition. We mostly use Emax & Empress porcelains which are the most durable life like porcelains in dentistry. Attention to detail occurs at every stage of the process ensuring that you’ll receive the finest porcelain veneers for the smile of your dreams, complementing your overall appearance making you look younger and healthier.

Local anesthetic may be administered to ensure your complete comfort during veneer placement. If necessary, a mild sedative may also be used to keep you relaxed. Dr. Ajmo will remove the temporary veneers and verify the fit and esthetic detail of your permanent veneers. Dr. Ajmo will then permanently bond the new veneers to the front surface of your teeth. A small light will cure the bonded cements, firmly and permanently adhering the veneers in place. Dr. Ajmo will make sure that the veneers allow room for adequate flossing, that your bite is properly adjusted and your smile looks great.

Am I a Porcelain Veneers Candidate?

Over time, our teeth experience quite a bit of wear and tear. This can result in cosmetic problems that can put a damper on our smile. Tooth-colored, porcelain veneers are a great option for those looking to eliminate, or cover, any blemishes their teeth may suffer from. Common cosmetic issues that veneers patients have including:

tooth discoloration

If you’re a coffee-drinker, you’ve already been introduced to the world of tooth yellowing and staining. Other food items that can cause discoloration include soda, tea, dark sauces (e.g. soy sauce), and sweets. Depending on the degree of staining, teeth-whitening is not always effective. Porcelain veneers are not only useful for covering stains, but they are stain-resistant, helping you avoid similar problems in the future.

chipped tooth
As we age, our teeth get weaker and are more prone to cracking or chipping. Teeth are also susceptible to physical damage for other reasons, and it’s not a coincidence that the teeth most likely to be damaged are those in the front, which are also the ones easiest to see. Porcelain veneers can make it seem as if there was never any damage there to begin with!
tooth enamel erosion
Just like our teeth tend to discolor over time, the same is true of enamel erosion. Enamel is a tissue on the surface of our teeth which protects subsequent layers of tissue from the elements. When we brush, we can wear down the enamel over time, and this can make our teeth more vulnerable to damage. A good way of protecting our pearly whites is by using a veneer to provide an additional layer of protection.
dental patient with teeth gaps

Not all of us have picture perfect teeth, each tooth uniform to the other and all equally well spaced between each other. Many of us have some gaps that are larger than others. Fortunately, veneers can help cover those gaps, providing you with the stunningly attractive smile you deserve.

The Cost of No Treatment

The last thing we want our patients to do is to not seek treatment for the flaws in their smile. Studies have shown that a smile can mean everything to a person’s appearance and can make all the difference regarding first impressions. But with porcelain veneers, a perfected smile is only a few visits away. Having noticeable cracks, chips, or discolorations in your smile can imply a poor oral health, whether these flaws occurred naturally or accidentally. Studies have shown that patients who had damaged teeth were not very favorably looked upon. By properly applying porcelain veneers or other cosmetic dentistry techniques, you can rejuvenate your smile to a bright and dazzling state that is sure to wow friends and family. Also, when you don’t seek treatment by an expert, there is also the possibility that your cosmetic problems could worsen or leave room for infection and periodontal disease.

Frequently Asked Questions about Cosmetic Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers and dental bonding have quite a few differences. The process of dental bonding involves using a composite resin that is very easily prone to cracking, chipping and staining over a relatively short time. However, while dental bonding is cost-effective, they must be replaced in a few years. Porcelain veneers are generally stronger, superior esthetically and offer a much more natural-looking smile.

Porcelain veneers offer many benefits for our patients in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Not only are they natural-looking and stain-resistant, but they mask those surface flaws for a long-lasting gorgeous smile.

It’s not unusual for our patients to have combined treatments with porcelain veneers, as they are one of the best solutions to give your smile a complete makeover. A porcelain veneer procedure is quick, minimally invasive and is much more guaranteed to last for many years when compared to dental bonding.

PGA Dentistry proudly offers three varieties of porcelain veneers for our patients in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

  • Minimal -Prep Veneers – these veneers are veritably thin, and so can be applied to the tooth by removing a very thin layer of enamel, making it a minimally invasive procedure.
  • E.Max Porcelain Veneers – are very thin minimal prep veneers, but still have an incredible durability that can resist daily wear and tear. As with most porcelain veneers, they allow an amount of light to pass through, giving a brilliant shine to any smile.
  • Empress® Porcelain Veneers – for patients seeking the most aesthetically pleasing of the three treatments, Empress veneers may be for you. While more delicate than the others, they are crafted to give you the most dazzling smile.

At PGA Dentistry, we love providing top-quality treatments and procedures to our patients, but we understand if our patients are hesitant about the cost of treatment. We will work closely with you to find an affordable treatment that fits your budget. We also have worked with unique patient financing services known as Proceed Finance, CareCredit and Springstone Financing, to alleviate the cost of the procedure. If you’d like more information about how to finance the cost of your porcelain veneers, feel free to contact us for a consultation with Dr. Ajmo.

We believe that no patient should be prevented from seeking treatment due to a fear of the dentist. Dr. Ajmo is specially trained in the application of sedation dentistry to make your visit and treatment as comfortable as possible. We offer a variety of sedation options:

  • Oral Conscious Sedation – sedative pills that are consumed prior to your appointment, that keep you completely calm but conscious during the treatment.
  • IV Sedation – this deeper level of sedation will leave you with no memory of the treatment and is administered very safely. Local anesthetic will still be administered, so you’ll be kept totally numb and comfortable during the entire procedure.

The best patients for porcelain veneers are the ones who are seeking to cover up their cosmetic flaws: Cracks and chips, misaligned teeth, crooked or gapped teeth, stains and discoloration.
