Understanding the Procedures
There are a number of gum surgeries we provide to ensure that each of our patients can get what they need at our office. Your initial consultation with Dr. Ajmo is designed to determine which procedure will work best to help you achieve your best smile.
If your teeth are masked by excessive gum tissue and you are displeased with the appearance of your smile, you might consider gum contouring surgery. Your “gummy” smile can make your teeth look disproportionately small but it can be reshaped with our advanced contouring procedure to improve your look. Using Biolase® laser technology, Dr. Ajmo can reduce the prominence of your gums while reducing the bleeding and discomfort often caused by the use of scalpels.
Using local anesthetic or sedation, we will ensure your comfort and help you relax for the treatment. Dr. Ajmo will then use the laser to gently and masterfully sculpt your gums into a more uniform, scalloped shape. Mild swelling and minimal discomfort is to be expected after the procedure, but no downtime from your regular activities is required.
Gum and Bone Grafting
Our Palm Beach Gardens practice sees many gum surgery patients who can benefit from gum and bone grafting. Dr. Ajmo personally performs bone grafting procedures to reverse bone loss to periodontal disease by promoting bone growth. We work with some of the best periodontists in the Palm Beach and Jupiter areas to provide gum grafting. This procedure often works in conjunction with bone grafting to facilitate soft-tissue growth and to protect exposed tooth roots.
