The Ins and Outs of Cosmetic Dentistry | PGA Dentistry
From major repairs to subtle changes, a dentist can perform numerous changes to make improvements to your smile. There a variety of cosmetic dentistry options and techniques that treat teeth that are chipped, discolored, missing, or misshapen. A dentist can close spaces, alter the length of teeth, restore worn teeth, and reshape teeth. Some of the most common procedures include bonding, bleaching, veneers, crowns, contouring, and reshaping. While not all of these treatments are considered cosmetic dentistry, they can still provide improvements to your smile along with your bite for North Palm Beach area patients.
Tooth Bleaching
In order to achieve gleaming white teeth, this is a popular and common process. While some people just want a whiter shade to their teeth, others do this to get rid of stains. Some medications, as well as coffee, tea, and cigarettes cause teeth to stain. Bleaching can occur at home or in a dental office. Most patients prefer performing this task at home due to convenience, however best results are always from a dentist.
Another common cosmetic dentistry procedure is bonding. When bonding occurs, a tooth colored material fills in the gaps of the tooth or changes the color of the teeth. This procedure only requires one office visit and it lasts for many years. This type of tooth restoration is more susceptible to chipping or staining than other types. When a tooth becomes decayed or chipped, many prefer using a bonding resin. Bonding is also used to change the shape of a tooth, to close in gaps, and/or to change the color of a tooth.
These are also referred to as caps and they cover over the entire tooth in order to restore it to its normal appearance and shape. Because they are so costly, they are often used only when other procedures will not work or be as effective. Crowns are the most time-consuming, but they also have the one of the longest life-expectancies of all cosmetic dentistry procedures.
These are thin pieces of plastic or porcelain that are placed over the tooth's front to change their shape or color and is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures. When teeth are crooked, have uneven surfaces, are chipped, are oddly shaped, are discolored, or are unevenly spaced, veneers are often used. It is uncommon for anesthesia to be used during the procedure in the cosmetic dentistry procedure.  Some of the same problems that are solved using bonding are resolved using veneers for North Palm Beach residents.
