Implant Supported Permanently Attached Dentures 

Mini Dental Implants

For patients who have narrow regions in their mouths that will not accommodate standard dental implants, Dr. Ajmo often recommends mini dental implants to anchor a denture. With smaller posts, mini dental implants allow new hope for patients who would not otherwise be able to receive implant support for their dentures. Mini implants can be placed in a single visit, and they'll allow you new freedom in eating, speaking, and smiling with confidence.

CT Scan and Surgical Guides

Our CT scan provides detailed 3D images of a patient's jaws and teeth, which allows Dr. Ajmo to treat more complex cases with efficient, effective implant procedures. The CT (called a CAT scan) takes an image that we send to a special laboratory. There, a surgical guide is created for the implant procedure. The guide ensures precision placement of implant posts into the jaw, thereby increasing predictability and safety for the procedure. With the guide, the procedure does not require traditional surgery or stitches, and this less traumatic approach decreases a patient's recovery time.

Sinus Lifts

In the upper jaw (maxilla) are hollow air spaces commonly known as sinuses. Oftentimes, when upper back teeth and molars are lost the maxillary sinuses enlarge, limiting the placement of dental implants.

Sinus lift procedures involve bone grafting to raise the maxillary sinus, allowing us to place implants and replace missing upper back teeth. Sinus lifts and implant placement may, in some circumstances, be performed simultaneously, thereby minimizing the number of surgical procedures.

Bone Grafts/Ridge Augmentation

The success of a dental implant and its ability to support a dental restoration is very much dependent on how much jaw bone is available in the area where the implant is to be placed. Bone volume is often decreased or lost as a result of periodontal disease, tooth loss, infection, or trauma.

In the past, the lack of adequate jawbone oftentimes limited tooth replacement options to removable partials or complete dentures. These outdated prostheses often fall out, come loose, feel uncomfortable, and make it difficult to chew food.

Ill-fitting removable dentures lead to additional jawbone loss over time, allowing the lips and cheeks to sink inward. The overall loss in facial volume results in a prematurely aged appearance.

We now have a number of bone grafting techniques available to rebuild lost bone where implant placement is desired. Ridge augmentation and bone grafting allow us to securely place missing teeth with dental implants in areas of the mouth that were previously not treatable.
