Bonnie had lost several teeth and had a variety of older dental work that was done over a number of years. Her bite had gradually collapsed, causing her front teeth to hit her lower lip. This resulted in a loss of fullness to her lips and face. She wanted a bright, healthy smile that gave her more lip fullness and made her look and feel younger. Our solution was to use dental implants to replace missing teeth, re-establish her bite to fill out her face and lips while enhancing her facial features and use laser tissue contouring to correct a "gummy smile." "I used to hide my smile as much as possible. I really didn’t realize how much it bothered me until I finally gathered up the courage to take a good look at my mouth. I’m so glad I had my mouth fixed and my smile restored. I really can’t believe the transformation it made to my entire face. All my friends tell me I look 15 years younger. Dr. Ajmo and his staff were wonderful." |
Fact is, the lower half of the face (around the mouth) ages the fastest, long before the skin around the eyes and forehead. Natural aging and tooth wear gradually lead to the "collapsing of the bite." Subsequently, the space between the nose and chin shortens, the lips flatten and droop down in the corners, and the chin puckers and recede.
If you have missing teeth, the collapsing process is exacerbated. Your cheeks and lips will cave further inward, potentially increasing your perceived age by tens of years.

A dental restorative makeover can reverse decades of premature aging and restore a more youthful appearance without the need for painful surgery or short-term injections like Botox or Restylane. Dr. Ajmo can restore facial volume, lip fullness, and the vertical height between the nose and chin. In addition, a dental restorative makeover will dramatically improve a disappearing jaw line, receding chin, baggy cheeks, and the loss of facial definition.
Dr. Ajmo will also restore worn teeth and replace missing teeth which will provide optimum support for facial profile enhancement.
A dental restorative makeover goes far beyond standard cosmetic dentistry and involves much more than "just the smile." Conventional cosmetic dentistry focuses mainly on enhancing the appearance of teeth without taking into consideration the jaw position or overall facial structure.
By restoring vertical height to the area between the nose and chin and establishing a properly aligned bite, Dr. Ajmo also helps resolve TMJ (Temporo-Mandibular Joint) disorder and its painful symptoms. Patients who suffer from TMJ may have headaches, neck pain, and/or tension in the jaw muscles. With a dental restorative makeover, your bite will be restored, your jaw stabilized, and you will experience total comfort and relief from the stress commonly associated with TMJ and a collapsed bite.

Bill had lost many teeth over the years and had lost his bite, allowing his lower jaw to collapse forward and up. His lower lip drooped downward and his upper lip lost all of its fullness. He found it difficult to eat properly and frequently suffered from indigestion. His wife encouraged him to finally seek help for his dental problems. With a complete reconstruction using dental implants and cosmetically characterized porcelain bridgework he now has something to smile about again. "My wife had been wanting me to get my teeth fixed for years. I finally did it and am so glad I did. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. I look and feel so much better and can finally eat a good steak again. I feel like a new man!" |
In addition to completely rebuilding the mouth, a dental restorative makeover often includes a smile makeover. Smile makeovers are unique to every patient but may involved fixed porcelain bridgework, porcelain crowns, veneers, dental implants, dentures, or a combination of treatments.

Implant Supported Permanently Attached Dentures

Ina had loose, old, removable dentures. She found it difficult to chew her meals and didn’t like the way that her dentures made her face look. We gave her Dental Implants and Implant Supported Dentures that are permanently attached and cannot get loose. Now she can eat and speak properly and we gave her much more lip fullness for a more youthful, healthy appearance.
“I suffered with loose uncomfortable dentures for years and couldn’t take it anymore! I finally decided to take care of myself and have my mouth fixed by an expert in dental implants. Now I can eat whatever I want and I feel so much better. I’m really glad that I had it done and Dr. Ajmo did a great job. Thanks for all your help,”
